Easton, PA -- Acopian, a leader in the design and manufacturing of custom, standard and modified-standard power supplies, recently hosted four students from Lafayette College for a week-long externship. The electrical and computer engineering majors had the opportunity to gain field experience by shadowing Acopian engineers as they went about their day.
Alex Karapetian, Director of Sales and Marketing for Acopian and president of Lafayette’s Alumni Association, served as host to the students, leading them through the design, manufacturing, production and testing process. The students participated in design review meetings and created product user tables for a new digital interface development project. They even had the opportunity to help build a piece of equipment to test a new Acopian product line.
Acopian Power Supplies has a long history of connections with Lafayette College. Sarkis Acopian, the company’s founder, graduated from Lafayette in 1951. In addition, alumni Alex Karapetian ’04, Greg Acopian ’70, Jeff Acopian ’75 and Ezra Acopian ’03, work alongside one another at the company.
“We’re glad to be able to offer this opportunity for Lafayette students, because that was us at one time. We hope their externship at Acopian helps reinforce their passion and gives them valuable insight that will guide their future career choices,” Karapetian said.
